Growing Together: Exciting Developments Around Terrapin

From new shopping and dining destinations to expanding healthcare and employment opportunities, the Leland area continues to grow.

There’s a lot happening in Brunswick County, and for those who call Terrapin home—or are considering making the move—it’s an exciting time to be part of this growing coastal community.

A recent Wilmington StarNews article highlighted 18 construction projects underway throughout Brunswick County. From new shopping centers and restaurants to healthcare facilities and residential communities, these developments are bringing new opportunities and conveniences to the region.

Here are a few projects making an impact in Leland and the surrounding area.

More Shopping and Dining in Leland

Leland’s growing selection of shopping and dining destinations continues to expand.

At Leland Village, located along U.S. 17 in front of Brunswick Forest, a new Publix is anticipated to open in early 2027. The shopping center will also welcome Marshalls, Ulta Beauty, First Watch, Wingstop, Qdoba, Handel’s Ice Cream and several additional businesses.

Meanwhile, Texas Roadhouse is moving forward with its first Brunswick County location at Leland Town Center.

For Terrapin residents, these additions mean even more choices for everyday shopping, dining and enjoying time with family and friends.

Expanding Healthcare Options

Healthcare accessibility is another important part of Brunswick County’s growth.

Construction is underway on Advanced Care – Leland, a new medical facility located in The Village at Brunswick Forest.

Closer to home, Terrapin’s own long-term development plans include a future Novant medical campus, bringing another important component to the community’s vision for convenient coastal living.

New Business and Employment Opportunities

Growth isn’t limited to residential development and retail.

Leland’s Innovation District, near U.S. 74/76, is welcoming additional industrial and commercial space. A new development along Industrial Boulevard will bring more than 175,000 square feet of space across three buildings, with the first building anticipated to be completed in October 2026.

These projects represent another dimension of the area’s expansion as Brunswick County continues to develop its commercial infrastructure.

Terrapin: Part of Leland’s Next Chapter

Terrapin is proud to be part of this exciting period of growth.

Located between U.S. 74/76 and Malmo Loop Road, Terrapin was also featured in the StarNews article as one of Brunswick County’s significant ongoing developments.

With plans for a variety of residential neighborhoods, resort-style amenities, a future medical campus and a 50-acre Marketplace, Terrapin is creating a community where residents can enjoy both the natural beauty of coastal North Carolina and the conveniences of a growing town.

The community’s planned Oasis amenity village will add even more opportunities to connect, relax and enjoy life close to home, with an anticipated opening in spring 2027.

A Growing Community, a Coastal Lifestyle

As Leland and Brunswick County continue to evolve, Terrapin offers a place to enjoy the best of both worlds: the relaxed pace of coastal living and the conveniences of a growing region.

With Wilmington, area beaches, shopping and dining destinations all within reach, there’s plenty to look forward to.
